Auction for Action

Auction for Action is a not-for-profit project, which serves and contributes all proceeds directly to Embracing the World (ETW), an international collective of charities founded by renowned spiritual and humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma). The aim of this project is to help alleviate the burden of the world’s poor through helping to meet each of their five basic needs – food, shelter, education, healthcare and livelihood – wherever and whenever possible. We believe that having these needs met is the fundamental right of any human being, and that it is the responsibility of each of us to strive hard to ensure that one day, every human being can live in dignity, safety, security and peace.
Best known for her practice of tenderly embracing all those who come to her, Amma has served as confidante and counselor to many of the 29 million people she has embraced throughout her life. Each of ETWs projects has been initiated in response to the needs of the world’s poor that have come to unburden their hearts to Amma and cry on her shoulder. Learn more about Amma.
Amma’s personal example of relentless dedication, sacrifice and service has inspired charity projects in more than 40 countries. This worldwide movement is expanding day by day, as more and more people feel inspired to share their time, energy and resources with their less fortunate brothers and sisters – both across the globe and in their own communities. Click here for contact information in your region.
Our online auctions since 2003 have contributed towards alleviating the burden of the world’s poor. Our new name, ‘Auction for Action,’ directly evokes Amma’s unique vocation. We chose this name because Amma inspires belief in true action, an action with a purpose. We also believe the word ‘Action’ in a philosophical and social reference relates to our primary goal. By bidding in the auction you are fulfilling the philosophical aspect of Action as it is defined as “..something a person can do.” The proceeds help the world’s poor, thus fulfilling the social reference aspect of action which is defined as “…a person taking account of others.”
How you can Help
Auction for Action contributes all its proceeds to Embracing the World (ETW), an international network of charitable projects. Compassionate individuals have generously donated every item on the auction. It is their contribution to this auction that makes these charitable projects a possibility. It is your bidding and purchase of these items that transforms the possibility into a reality. This gift of yours keeps these worldwide humanitarian projects active and running. Thus you are able to enjoy your gift and also know that your gift has made a difference in the lives of those in need.
